 Episcopal Church Women

Episcopal Church Women

We are all women of the Episcopal Church:
Rooted in our past and growing into God's Future.

What We Do – The three focuses of the Episcopal Church Women's program are:

  1. To assist and enable the women of the church to carry out their mission and ministry.
  2. To encourage proactive advocacy for educational initiatives.
  3. To provide the opportunity for women to come together at Triennial Meeting for worship, study and action.

The Women’s Weekend – Each spring all women of the diocese are invited to participate in our Annual Weekend.  The Retreat includes the third Sunday in May and is held at the Cathedral Domain. 2008 dates are Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18 with an optional ‘play day’ on Thursday, May 15. This is an opportunity for us to come together as a community of Episcopal Women for a weekend of Faith, Fellowship and Fun.  All women of the diocese are welcome at this Weekend.  For more information contact Lisa Hawkins (LisaHawk@Hughes.net).

Province IV Women’s Conference – Each year the Province IV Women meet at Kanuga Conferences for a time of learning, relaxing and fun with other Episcopal Women of Province IV.  In 2008 the dates are Monday, June 2 to Sunday, June 4 with an optional ‘play day’ of Sunday, June 1. For more information contact Susan Baird (susanbaird@aol.com).

The United Thank Offering – A ministry of giving thanks to God for our blessings. See the national website, or for more local information contact Fran Bennett (fbennett05@alltel.net).

Bishops’ Funds – Give a gift that lives – a gift to perpetuate the lives and dreams of those whom we have called Bishop.  Each year we have a special offering for ministries dedicated to each of the former bishops of the diocese:

  • The Lewis William Burton Fund for Scholarships for assisting aspiring clergy in their training;
  • The Henry Pryor Alman Abbott Fund for Diocesan Missions for assisting new and continuing missionary work in the diocese;
  • The William Robert Moody Fund for the Cathedral Domain to provide continuing support for the place which came to be known as its heart – the Cathedral Domain;
  • The Addison Hosea Fund for Continuing Education to support the continuing education of people in the diocese (click here for application);
  • The Don Adger Wimberly Fund to support our Youth and Young Adult Ministries of the Diocese.

For more information on the Bishops’ Funds contact CC Johnson (charlotte.johnson@insightbb.com).
