From Convention

You are heard!

Your convention evaluations said:

  • You would like more information and you would like to receive it earlier.
  • You would like a firm resolution deadline that allows for all resolutions to be received in printed form in the pre-convention packets.
  • You like framing the business of the Diocese in worship.
  • You would like a combined rather than individual ballot for voting for diocesan offices.
  • You enjoy opportunities during convention to interact with Episcopalian brothers and sisters from across the Diocese, and appreciate having fun together although we hold different viewpoints on some issues.
  • You appreciated the inspiring opening worship and sermon.
  • You appreciated being able to take home the videos on mission and the Bishop’s Address, and the information from your table discussions, which the majority found extremely helpful and inspiring.
  • You appreciated the reports from St. John’s, Versailles, and the Long-range Planning Committee.
  • You would like facilities that allow for all people to stay on-site; better sound system and  better break-out rooms.
  • You need more information on process and procedure for an Episcopal convention, election of deputies from the parishes, how deputies receive committee assignments, shaping a resolution, how convention business works.
  • Approximately one-half of those returning evaluation forms use the Convention/Diocesan Web page and one-half do not.  The Diocese of Lexington is a both/and Diocese in terms of electronic and print communication.
  • You have miscellaneous comments and suggestions on minority reports, convention dates, food, length of convention and other items.
  • You would like more opportunity for all opinions to be heard.
  • A few of you felt that politics were more prevalent at convention than you would like.

The Committee for the 109th convention will receive the evaluations for consideration in planning of the 2005 convention
