The Mission Funding Task Force (MFTF) was charged at the 2001
Diocesan Convention to consider alternative funding mechanisms for the
Diocese of Lexington. A summary of recommendations to be
presented by the MFTF to the 2003 Diocesan Convention is presented.
As the Diocesan Center seeks to move its offices from Christ Church
Cathedral in Lexington to a new location, a plan was approved by the
Executive Council to provide for the purchasing and remodeling of the
selected site.

| St. Michael’s Celebrates Mepham’s 50th Anniversary
- The Rev. Andrew Mepham's 50th anniversary of ordination to the
priesthood was celebrated at St. Michael's, Lexington on October
19. Fr. Mepham continues to serve the diocese as a supply
priest. Fr. Mepham has had quite a remarkable and varied career.
St. Michael’s Youth do Project Linus
- Project Linus gives handmade blankets to families of children living
with terminal illnesses. St. Michael's youth group participated in
the parish's efforts to make and deliver blankets to the families of the
ailing children.

- As the 2003 Diocesan Convention draws near, resolutions offer a formal
means of expressing faith through acts. Everyone is encouraged to
use this mechanism. This article details what is involved.
New guidelines and form for nominations for Diocesan Offices
- Nominations are being received for Executive Council, Standing
Committee and Sewanee. Required information from nominees has
changed. A sample nomination form is included.

- The national Prison Ministry Task Force Conference was held October
17-18 in Baltimore, MD. The shortcomings of the death penalty and
generally poor treatment of inmates and others involved with
incarceration was discussed.

Alexandria Declaration meeting offers plan for promoting peace in the Middle East
- (ENS) A high-level consultation of Christian, Muslim and Jewish
religious leaders hosted by Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey at
Lambeth Palace in London has issued a 10-point plan to deal with the
continuing conflict in the Middle East.
House of Bishops sets high threshold for Iraqi war
- [The Church of England] The Church of England’s House of Bishops has
urged the British Government and the international community to continue
to pursue all available peaceful means towards resolving the crisis with
Iraq.
Episcopal Migration Ministries blasts ‘end of US hospitality’ to refugees
- (ENS) Calling it “the beginning of the end to US hospitality to
refugees,” C. Richard Parkins, director of Episcopal Migration
Ministries, strongly criticized the Bush administration’s imposition
of a 70,000-person ceiling on refugee admissions for fiscal 2003.
